Words from Jack himself stumbling accross his stage name>>> I was really drunk and was watching Pirates of the Caribbean and I said: “F*c*k Jack Sparrow the pirate of the Caribbean, I’m Jack Parow, pirate of the caravan park.”

Thirty years ago, Zander Tyler was born in Parow, Cape Town. Today he is known as Jack Parow, the dangerous romantic Afrikaans rapper. Contrary to popular belief, his wild-fire success did not happen overnight. Jack started out rapping with crews from the Cape Flats and has been at it for nine years.

He studied to be a mechanic, but had to take jobs like packing fish in Cape Town harbour and allocated graves for the Cemetery Division of the Cape Town municipality to support his rap habit. Performing only for a beer and pizza soon changed, when his collaboration with Die Heuwels Fantasties on the track, Die Vraagstuk, put him in the limelight.

It’s been almost three years since his breakthrough in 2009 and since Jack Parow has released his first self-titled full length album that struck gold within two weeks of its release and went platinum within a year; headlined at major festivals in South Africa; toured Europe and played before packed out shows there. His music video for the hit Cooler as Ekke has over two million views on YouTube. His songs are hits on national radio stations and he has been on prime TV shows and on covers and centre-folds of publications in South Africa and in Europe.

Jack Parow’s second full length album, Eksie Ou, was released in November 2011, under his own label, Parowphernalia. This album reached Gold status in sales within four months of its release. A highlight from Eksie Ou is that the first single, Hosh Tokolosh with Gazelle, is the first Afrikaans song in the station’s history to reach Number 1 on 5FM’s Top 40. The second single from the album, Hard Partytjie Hou featuring Francois van Coke made is to Number 10 of 5FM’s Top 40, making it two Afrikaans singles to enter the Top 10 on this chart. The title-track, Eksie Ou, went on to become Parow’s second Number 1 on 5FM’s Top 40.

Roger Goode Is confirmed to play exclusively for you at 4U Rage Festival 2013. Roger has been playing at the festival for over 10 years now. He will be banging you again this year.

Some interesting facts on one of South Africa’s best electronic DJ’s/Producers:

Roger Goode rose to local fame for his first single “In The Beginning”, which featured on 5FM’s Top 40. This later led to him being signed up with a local dance record label, SheerDance, under which he released his first album, Coming Up for Air in 2001.
“In The Beginning” prompted Purple Eye Records to approach Goode, who allowed Ferry Corsten to remix the track, which went on to the UK Singles Chart (#33, 2002)a nd MTV’s Music Video Chart. At 21, Goode was signed to Pete Tong’s London Records, who promoted “In The Beginning” in the Buzz Chart, and showcased the track on Danny Rampling’s Weekly Top 10.

South Africa, September 2012: Since the release of their self-titled debut album in April 2011, you’ve been hearing more and more of GoodLuck on South African airwaves. So much so that 5 tracks off the album have gone to number one on the Radio Charts, making GoodLuck number one in chart-topping singles off a debut album in South African history surpassing super-bands like the Parlotones, Prime Circle and the electronic super-group Goldfish.

GoodLuck released their debut single ‘Taking it Easy’ (a Beatport favourite) to The Netherlands market where they have just begun to make waves on the live scene headlining the Fontys stage at Festival Mundial 2012. Taking it Easy is already sitting at #150 on the Nielsen Radio Airplay Charts and is at #11 on the Netherlands iTunes electronic music charts. “We have fallen in love with The Netherlands and are planning to base ourselves there for most of the Summer of 2013” says producer Ben Peters.

What started off as a passion project for producer Ben Peters, after teaming up with singer/songwriter Juliet Harding, and Saxophonist Raiven Hansmann has grown from a small weekly residency at Camps Bay club Karma to opening for Paul Oakenfold and Basement Jaxx and performing at clubs and festivals around the world.

Their collaboration with DJs Pascal and Pearce on the summer hit Disco Sun (signed to Spinnin’ Records, the Netherlands) has smashed up the airwaves internationally and was one of the chosen few tracks to feature on Hollywood blogger Perez Hilton’s first compilation album.

GoodLuck were also recently nominated for 3 South African Music Awards including ‘Best Dance Album’, ‘Best Duo / Group’ and the coveted ‘Record of the Year’.

Their live show is hailed as one of the explosive, energetic and electric in the electronic music world and there is no stopping this trio now. If you ask them they will tell you that everything that has happened through hard work and a love of good music, good people and a little sprinkling of good luck!

“Litchi Party”, erupts within the woodlands of Ballito. This litchi themed event has taken over as one of the highlights of Durban’s December holiday period and this year has something special planned for its loyal Litchi Party goers. Bringing headliner artists from around the world has shown to be a hit amongst our student market.

Can the class of 2013 do better??

The opening Saturday of the festival has cemented itself as the biggest event at 4U Rage Festival. Last year the festival saw 7450 festival goers enter the doors of the Wavehouse to watch global mega stars Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike slam 4U Rage Festival.

This year we will be stepping it up one further with another global mega star. Information on the artist will be disclosed at a later stage. Think dirty! Do not miss the opening Saturday! Make sure you have a passport to avoid disappointment! The event sold out last year.
